Help Your Teen Step Into Their Spark! At YMCA Camp Kenan, we believe every young person has a spark waiting to ignite—and the Leaders in Training (LIT) program is where that spark becomes something truly amazing. Designed for teens ready to stretch their confidence, teamwork, and leadership muscles, our LIT experience blends traditional camp magic with hands-on opportunities to grow, lead, and discover who they’re becoming.
Throughout this fun‑filled, adventure-packed program, LITs work in groups to learn alongside counselors, support younger campers, and take part in specialized leadership workshops crafted just for them. They’ll learn communication, group facilitation, problem solving, and the kind of real‑world skills that help teens flourish—whether they’re guiding younger campers through the ropes course or collaborating with their peers to plan a camp-wide activity.
But don’t worry—this isn’t all “serious business.” LITs still get to be campers! They’ll enjoy classic Camp Kenan traditions, campfires, swimming, team challenges, and plenty of moments that turn into lifelong memories. It’s the perfect blend of independence, responsibility, and good old-fashioned summer joy.
Parents love the LIT program because it builds confidence and character in a safe, encouraging environment. Teens love it because it’s their chance to step into a bigger role, form powerful friendships, and feel like they truly belong.
If your teen is ready to lead, grow, and shine, Camp Kenan’s Leaders in Training program is the place to start. Let’s inspire the leaders of tomorrow—one unforgettable summer at a time.
