In Raphael Simon’s humorous and fantastical The Anti-Book we meet Mickey, a 12-year boy who is mad at everyone in his life—his dog, his sister, his sister’s boyfriend and especially his divorced parents. When Mickey discovers the mysterious Anti-Book, he thinks he has the answers to all of his problems; but will wishing everyone away really solve what is troubling Mickey? Probably not, but maybe it will give him a chance to rewrite his own story.
In conversation with Raphael is author Holly Goldberg Sloan. The much-loved middle grade authors will explore themes of grief, self-esteem, and complicated parental relationships.
Raphael Simon is an author who lives in Pasadena, CA, with his husband and twin daughters. He is definitely not the alter ego of infamously anonymous author Pseudonymous Bosch, writer of the New York Times bestselling Secret Series and the Bad Books.
Holly Goldberg Sloan was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and spent her childhood living in Holland; Istanbul, Turkey; Washington, D.C.; Berkeley, California; and Eugene, Oregon. After graduating from Wellesley College and spending some time as an advertising copywriter, she began writing family feature films, including Angels in the Outfield and Made in America. She is the author of the New York Times bestsellers Counting by 7s and Short, among other novels.
Ages 8-12
